Two assemblies which focus on the work done by the MACS charity (Microphthalmia, Anophthalmia and Coloboma Support). MACS is a charity for young people who were born without eyes or with underdeveloped eyes, so the assemblies focus on the importance of valuing our vision and how we should treat everyone with respect and without prejudice. The assemblies focus on the work MACS do to help and support young people. One of the assemblies is to raise awareness of the work MACS does and the other is for schools interested in fundraising for the charity. These are especially useful for schools teaching topics on prejudice and discrimination and also schools with a child who uses MACS' services. The session contains three challenge learning outcomes, slides of easy to digest information, a clip task with differentiated questions, a quiz and final reflection task. A one hour - 90 min long lesson suitable for KS2 (or a low ability Year 7 group), all about the meaning of body image and what makes some people have a negative or positive body image. It is well differentiated with three-level challenges for each task, contains a variety of activities, an hour long PowerPoint, a clip with questions, a literacy focus task, new key-term introductions, reading aloud materials and creative tasks. The lesson also encourages students to reflect on how the media and celebrities themselves edit their images before sharing them publicly and how we can help others to feel more body-positive. It is fully editable, engaging and very easy to follow. A new, 2024 lesson, all about our online privacy and protecting our data. Students will explore the concept of privacy and why it is an important Human Right. They will then investigate how they are unknowingly giving away their personal data online, whilst browsers and social media sites and stores can take this legitimately. Students will then discover how malicious actors can steal data easily and use it for nefarious purposes, whilst learning the best way to protect themselves, their data and their personal privacy. This lesson is taken from the new EC Publishing Complete PSHE Package which can be found at the EC Publishing website.
